440C stainless steel with C- 1.2 carbon content of this kind of steel has good rust resistance. It is a commonly used stainless steel for imported knives. Its chromium content is as high as 16-18%. It is also one of the earliest stainless steels used for tool making and is quite popular. If heat treatment is carried out as stainless bearing steel, it is generally recommended to carry out cryogenic treatment before the tempering operation. Such cryogenic treatment improves the hardness, wear resistance, and dimensional stability of the steel. Therefore, the cryogenic treatment of 440C is also often used for tool heat treatment.
